Russia got a showcase of Sharjah from trade delegates including representatives from Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). The participation was part of the Kazan Summit 2014 in Tatarstan and the UAE-Russia Business Forum in Moscow. The trade was accompanied by a UAE trade delegation that was led by Engineer Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri, minister of economy.
Abdul Aziz Al Midfaa, deputy director of economic relations and public relations at Sharjah Department of Economic Development said: “Russia’s importance as a key trade and investment partner for Sharjah and UAE continues to grow. There is vast potential for mutually beneficial investment projects and business ventures between Sharjah and Russia. The country presents a key tourism market for Sharjah. The total share of Russian tourists in Sharjah’s tourism arrivals for 2013 stood at 23%, thus reaffirming the growing presence of Sharjah’s tourism products in the Russian market.”
Over two million Russian tourists visited UAE in 2013, with Russian arrivals to Sharjah constituting largest proportion of the European tourists.
