The Malaysian state of Sabah has increased its tourist target for 2011 to 2.4 million, Bernama has reported. The state, on the island of Borneo, achieved its goal of welcoming 2.3 million arrivals in 2010 and believes it can take the total even higher this year due to the increase in air links to the region. Malaysia Airlines last year established its eastern hub in the state capital, Kota Kinabalu.
