The Saint Lucia Tourist Board is to launch a romance-based microsite following its involvement with channel 5’s ‘The Bachelor’. The ‘Made for Romance’ site will feature information from the island’s hotels with an emphasis on honeymoons and hoteliers will upload vouchers and coupons to the site for consumers to download. The tourist board has encouraged travel agents to direct clients to the website once they have confirmed a booking to Saint Lucia. The microsite will go live in mid September and vouchers can be redeemed from 1 October 2011 to 31 December 2012, when booked between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2012. “We’re thrilled to be part of the Bachelor UK. We were a key destination for the Bachelor US series which saw an incredible uplift in bookings as a result of the exposure on prime time TV,” said Jean-Marc Flambert, marketing director UK and Ireland at Saint Lucia Tourist Board. “The UK series has already notched up lots of media interest and we fully expect this to continue as the show progresses. It makes sense for us to amplify the exposure with a coordinated six-week marketing blitz which is designed to capitalise on the buzz around the programme and to reinforce our reputation as the world’s most romantic island”.
