The world’s fourth-largest aircraft maker, Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica SA (Embraer), has said the tightening credit markets are making it difficult for some of its clients to buy new planes, according to a Bloomberg report. However Embraer also stressed that no orders have yet been cancelled, and reiterated that their delivery targets for this year and 2009 remain in tact, at 215 and 350 planes respectively.
“Some customers have said they are facing more difficulties in financing, but we haven’t seen any impact on our business,” Chief Executive Officer Frederico Fleury Curado said in an interview in Singapore yesterday. He reiterated his delivery target of 215 aircraft for this year.
Embraer admitted it had some deliveries postponed by customers including Jet Blue Airways and Virgin Blue.
“Nobody is immune to what happens in the US,” Curado said.
