Sanya to become golf capital
Sanya is emerging as one of the hottest golf destination in Asia Pacific and will eventually rival traditional destinations such as Hawaii and Miami.
This is the view of Michel Goget, Chairman of the Sanya Tourism Hotel Association, who was speaking at the inaugural Asian Golf Tourism Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
China’s southern island province of Hainan is currently home to 29 golf courses, including 13 in the Sanya area. These include Yalong Bay Golf Club and Dunes Golf Course, and Goget said that future developments will further enhance the island’s golfing potential.
“With the arrival of Mission Hills to the island, one of the most famous golf resort brands in the world, the whole of Hainan and particularly Sanya will enjoy a halo effect. The tropical climate is perfect for golfers and their families,” he said.
