“The huge surge amongst the industry players for SATTE 2015 is the result of the new government’s renewed thrust on tourism as one of the significant industries to contribute towards employment and revenue generation,” explained Joji George, managing director of UBM India.
“The Ministry of Tourism has already initiated a series of marketing initiatives to make India as a must-see tourism destination. SATTE expects to welcome a record number of buyers for its 22nd edition. After being bracketed as a vital sector by the new government in this year’s Union budget, the Indian tourism industry is looking forward to a positive year, giving the industry more than enough reason to be at SATTE 2015.”
In the area of travel technology, SATTE 2015 will provide a platform for GDS companies, online travel agencies and online travel marketing companies to showcase their products and services. Companies such as Abacus and Travelport, Holiday Merchants, M Globe International, RezLive and roomsXML will all be in attendance.
The 2014 edition of SATTE saw participation of approximately 640 exhibitors from 35 countries, 23 Indian states, airlines, DMCs, hotels and the other travel, tourism and hospitality suppliers. SATTE also welcomed its highest-ever number of attendees – 11,529 travel trade professionals, including pre-registered and hosted Indian and international buyers and business visitors.
These figures are likely to be beaten in 2015.
