Wyndham Hotel Group has signed an agreement for a second Ramada hotel in Johor Bahru, just four months after it announced its first hotel in the Malaysian city.
The latest property is the Ramada Meridin Johor Bahru, a 26-storey, 322-room hotel which is scheduled to open in 2018. Like the first property, the 322-room Ramada Encore Meridin Johor Bahru, the new hotel is being developed by Mah Sing Group and will be operated under a franchise agreement with Ramada.
“As one of the fastest growing regions in Malaysia we see Johor Bahru as a prime location for our growing global portfolio and in particular our internationally-recognised Ramada brand,” said Barry Robinson, Wyndham’s president & managing director for Southeast Asia & Pacific Rim.
“To have not one but two hotels under development simultaneously in the city speaks volumes about the power of the Ramada name.”
Situated approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Singapore and less than a kilometre from Legoland Malaysia, Ramada Meridin Johor Bahru will form part of the Meridin Hotel Suites complex in Medini, within the Iskandar economic zone.
Once completed, the Ramada Meridin Johor Bahru will feature yoga and meditation decks, a reflexology area, three swimming pools, an “aqua gym”, café, garden, tennis court, playground and outdoor gym.
It will become the fifth Wyndham property in Malaysia.
