Keppel Land, which owns the Sedona Hotel Yangon, has unveiled plans for a major extension of the property.
The new 29-storey Inya Wing is being built at the hotel, adding another 420 rooms to the property. This will more than double the Sedona Yangon’s existing inventory of 366 rooms, all of which were recently refurbished. The new wing is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
“We are excited about the opportunities to grow with Myanmar as it opens up and attracts more businesses and foreign investments, as well as tourists,” said Ang Wee Gee, CEO of Keppel Land.
“Myanmar continues to enjoy increasing tourist arrivals, with a forecast to reach 4.5 million in 2015 and 7.5 million in 2020. As evident from the topping-up of Sedona Hotel Yangon’s Inya Wing today, we have expanded and refurbished our hotels to cater to the rising demand.”
The Sedona extension is one of two major projects currently being undertaken by Keppel Land in Yangon; the Singapore-based real estate company is also building a 23-storey office tower in the Junction City complex, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017.
The Sedona brand currently operates two hotels in Myanmar: Sedona Hotel Yangon and Sedona Hotel Mandalay.
