Shanghai to expand electric car charging ports
Shanghai plans to develop more than 5,000 new electric car charging points in the city over the next three years.
Reported by the Shanghai Daily, Shanghai Electric Power Co will launch 50 charging stations and roll-out 5,000 charging poles in the coming years, to meet an expected surge in the number of electric car sales.
According to the electric company’s General Manager, Feng Jun, the new ports will be added to accessible locations both residential and business districts, including public car parks.
“As long as locals buy electric vehicles, the power supply authority will ensure the vehicles have places to charge,” Feng was quoted saying
Currently Shanghai has 12 charging stations and 890 refueling poles.
