Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts will launch its third Traders hotel in Malaysia on Saturday 1 June 2013, with the opening of the 283-room Traders Hotel Puteri Harbour in Johor, close to the border with Singapore.
The four-storey hotel is located at the Puteri Harbour development, which houses theme parks, restaurants, retail outlets, a marina and promenade. The development forms part of a rapidly growing Iskandar development area, close to the main highways to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
“With the state administration centre and two theme parks practically at the hotel’s doorstep, we’re set to be the new business and leisure hub in Johor,” said Sigi Bierbaumer, GM of the new Traders Hotel.
The hotel’s rooms and suites range from 33-96m² and come equipped with 40-inch TVs, large bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and minibars. Other hotel facilities include four F&B outlets, an executive lounge, health club, business centre and a rooftop space with gardens, a swimming pool and bar. Event facilities include 515m² ballroom and five other meeting rooms.
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La designed the Traders brand as a simpler version of its luxury product, and is rolling it out in major business centres across Asia and the Middle East.
There are now three Traders Hotels in Malaysia, in Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The company also operates Shangri-Las in KL, Putrajaya, Kota Kinabalu and Penang.
