Following eight months of renovation, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore’s Garden Wing has reopened.
The new Garden Wing has 158 rooms and suites contained within 6.1 hectares of tropical gardens. All rooms feature balconies with views of the gardens or swimming pool. The three premier balcony suites also feature outdoor jacuzzis and barbecue grills. A new dining concept, Waterfall Garden Café, and Singapore’s first CHI spa will open in July and August respectively. The wing also includes a new event venue called The Deck
First opened in 1978, Shangri-La Singapore’s Garden Wing was famous for its bougainvillea-laden terraced balconies. In October 2011, the wing was closed for eight months for a SG$66 million (US$52m) renovation.
“Our iconic Garden Wing has been endorsed by environmentalists around the world, such as the late Sir Edmund Hilary, since the 1990s. It is our commitment to uphold the legacy of this legendary wing by enhancing the Shangri-La experience for our guests. I am confident that the Garden Wing will add a new dimension for our loyal patrons and their families who have stayed with us for decades and, at the same time, win the hearts of new guests. It will also redefine Singapore’s resort landscape, as the Garden Wing is the only urban resort located within the city centre,” said Manfred Weber, GM of the Shangri-La Singapore.
In total the hotel features 750 guest rooms spread across three wings; the Garden Wing, Tower Wing and Valley Wing.
