Shangri-La’s first hotel in London has received its first guest, more than a year before its planned opening. The hotel, which will be housed in The Shard – the UK capital’s landmark glass tower – has reportedly become home to a fox cub. Discovered on the under-construction skyscraper’s 72nd floor – having climbed almost 290 metres – the fox has been living off food scraps left by construction workers.
“It was unbelievable. To get up there the fox would have had to climb 71 sets of stairs and an old-fashioned ladder,” The Sun newspaper reported local pest controller, Les Leonard, as saying.
The fox, reported to be less than six months old, has since been released in the city. It was last seen heading towards The Dorchester.
