Sharjah received more than 269,950 Asian tourists in 2013, representing 14% from the total 1.9 million visitors received by the Emirate. Riding on this growth, Sharjah is looking at tapping into the growing Chinese market with its participation at COTTM Beijing (Chinese Outbound Travel and Tourism Marketing).
SCTDA chairman HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman said that the initiative is part of a continuing effort by the Emirate to target Chinese and Asian tourism market. We are planning a full-time representative office in Beijing among a number of other measures including year-long promotional activities and specially targeted campaigns across the region.
“China today leads the world as far as tourism growth is concerned. It is the fastest growing tourism market in the world today. It is important for Sharjah’s tourism industry to tap this massive market,” emphasised Noman.
