Starwood Hotels & Resorts has continued the expansion of its new ‘Sheraton Grand’ concept in Asia Pacific, with the rebranding of three more hotels.
The new higher tier of Sheraton was introduced last year as part of the ‘Sheraton 2020’ initiative to revamp and expand the classic upscale brand. And now Starwood has revealed that the renamed Sheraton Grand Shanghai Pudong Hotel & Residences, Sheraton Grand Guangzhou Huadu Resort and Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel will all join the new portfolio.
According to Starwood, Sheraton Grand properties are differentiated from standard Sheratons by their “enticing destinations, distinguished designs, and excellence in service and guest experiences”.
“As we complete the first year of our bold new vision for Starwood’s most global brand, Sheraton 2020 initiatives are already underway to establish Sheraton as the hotel brand of choice everywhere,” said Vincent Ong, Starwood’s senior director of brand management for Asia Pacific.
“We are making tremendous progress in Asia Pacific, continuing to provide Sheraton guests with effortless travel experiences so they can experience more, from offering the new lobby bar menu… to leading the expansion of the brand’s new premier tier, Sheraton Grand.”
The latest three additions follow the launch of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Gold Coast, Sheraton Grand Hangzhou Wetland Park Resort, Sheraton Grand Xishuangbanna Hotel, Sheraton Grand Hangzhou Binjiang Hotel and Sheraton Grand Incheon Hotel in December 2015. Other Sheraton Grand properties are already operating in Bengaluru, Beijing, Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul.
And Starwood also revealed plans to open more than 20 properties in the Asia Pacific region by mid-2017, supporting the brand’s global goal of adding 150 new Sheraton hotels by 2020. This will include the brand’s first properties in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Myanmar.
