Starwood has announced the opening of its first Sheraton hotel in New Caledonia.
The Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa is a new-build property located on a beachfront site on the west coast of the Pacific island.
The resort features a range of leisure amenities, including the largest outdoor swimming pool in New Caledonia, a spa and watersports activities, while an 18-hole golf course and driving range will be added by April 2015. There is also a kids’ club, while F&B options include two restaurants and a bar.
Sheraton New Caledonia offers a choice of 180 rooms, including 60 traditional Melanesian bungalows and 40 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. The units are spread among 17 separate low-rise buildings and all come equipped with LED Smart TVs, Wi-Fi, private terraces and bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers.
And for the MICE market, the hotel offers more than 550m² of meetings space, including a ballroom and indoor and outdoor pre-function areas.
“Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa is an extraordinary property with luxurious beachside accommodations, a range of recreational activities, and all the Sheraton brand’s signature amenities and services in an atmosphere infused with the French and Melanesian flavour of New Caledonia,” said the resort’s general manager, Thomas Schwall.
Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa becomes Starwood’s third property in New Caledonia, following Le Méridien Nouméa and Le Méridien Ile des Pins.
The Sheraton brand now has eight hotels in the Pacific region, but plans to add two more resorts in Samoa by the end of the year.
