Singapore Airlines (SIA) has celebrates its 25th year of service at Manchester Airport, making it the longest serving long-haul airline continuing to operate to the UK hub, with its first flight taking place on 1 April 1986. Joey Seow, SIA’s General Manager for UK & Ireland, commented; “Since 1986, Singapore Airlines has operated a service from Manchester to Singapore, which we saw increase to a daily service in September 2010. We are committed to providing our customers in Manchester and the wider North West region with the best in-flight product and service and look forward to offering Northern England further improvements to the service over the next 25 years.” Andrew Harrison, Managing Director of Manchester Airport added; “Singapore Airlines is a world class brand and an important part of Manchester Airport’s history. The link it has provided for the last 25 years between the cities of Manchester and Singapore has become a vital part of this region’s business and leisure global connectivity. We are proud to celebrate this important anniversary with Singapore Airlines and look forward to continuing our successful relationship.” The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft service from Manchester includes the airline’s First Class full-flat bed, as well as its lie-flat Business Class offering.
