Singapore Airlines (SIA) will cut its Airbus A380 services to Japan, as it responds to a downturn in demand for services to the beleaguered country. From 17 April, SIA will operate flight SQ637 from Singapore to Tokyo’s Narita airport, and the return flight SQ638, using a 285-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft instead of its 471-seat A380. Then from 1 July, the route will be flown using a 278-seat Boeing 777-300ER. The superjumbo will serve the Narita route once during this time however, on flights SQ637 and SQ638 on 29 April.
Also from 1 July, SIA will switch from an A330-300 to a B777-300 for flights SQ633 and SQ634 on its Singapore-Tokyo Haneda route. Flights SQ635 and SQ636 to Haneda meanwhile, will resume on 8 May following their temporary suspension, but will be operated by a B777-200, instead of the usual A330-300.
