14 September 2009 Singapore Airlines’ premium customers can now relax in a brand new Silver Kris Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. Opened 9 September 2009, the new Lounge is nearly twice the size of the previous one, offering ample resting, dining and working space for more than 210 customers.
“Whatever the economic climate, Singapore Airlines continues to adhere to its core principle of providing excellent products and services,” said Campbell Wilson, General Manager Hong Kong, Singapore Airlines. “In July, we commenced the first ever Airbus A380 commercial service to Hong Kong, ushering in a new era in terms of onboard product. We now complement this on the ground, adding an even finer touch to our premium customers’ experience, before they board, with this new Silver Kris Lounge offering yet more privacy, luxury and comfort.”
Centrally located at the Main Departure Hall on Level 6 after the immigration and security area, the new Lounge offers convenient access to the boarding gates commonly used by Singapore Airlines’ flights.
Designed in modern-contemporary style, there are three lounge-style seating areas allowing customers to relax in comfort.
Four LCD televisions around the Lounge provide up-to-the-minute news and other entertainment programmes, while an extensive range of local and international newspapers and magazines is available for those preferring to read.
The entire lounge is WiFi-enabled, thus allowing customers to surf the internet from wherever they are seated. Sixteen internet-ready PCs and Macs workstations with power connections for mobile devices are also available for use.
Two food and beverage locations offer maximum choice; a beverage and snack bar as well as a full dining area furnished with marble tables in long-bar setting plus a more intimate coffee-shop style area. A wide range of savory delicacies, from dim sum items to sandwiches, hot and cold dishes, soup of the day, and variety of pastries, fruits, cheese, and ice cream, complemented by beverages such as wine, beer, liquor, champagne, fresh juice, and soft drinks are served all day.
The Silver Kris Lounge is available to First (including Suites) and Business Class customers traveling on Singapore Airlines out of Hong Kong. Solitaire PPS Club members and Star Gold members traveling in Economy Class on Singapore Airlines or any other Star Alliance member airlines are also welcome to use the Lounge.
Singapore Airlines currently operates five daily non-stop flights from Hong Kong to Singapore, along with daily non-stop services between Hong Kong and San Francisco. On 9 July 2009, Singapore Airlines contributed to another milestone Hong Kong’s aviation history by introducing the city’s first A380 commercial service, which operates daily between Hong Kong and Singapore.
