Chengdu-based Sichuan Airlines will expand its international operations this year, with the launch of new routes to Moscow, Tokyo and Osaka.
The airline will launch the first ever direct flight to Moscow from Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan province, in May. Initially, the service will be operated four times a week using a twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft.
This marks the start of the airline’s European expansion, with services to Amsterdam also expected to commence this year.
In addition, Sichuan Airlines will launch scheduled service to Tokyo and Osaka in the second half of 2015. The airline will offer four weekly flights to Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport, and fly to Osaka’s Kansai International Airport on the remaining three days of the week.
All these Japanese flights will also be operated using an Airbus A330 jet.
