Silversea’s new flagship liner, Silver Spirit, arrived in Hong Kong for the first time on Monday. The 540-passenger luxury liner docked at the China Merchant Wharf at Kennedy Town as part of its inaugural 119-day World Cruise. The liner was welcomed by the Hong Kong Police Marching Band and a Lion Dance troupe organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). Plaque exchanges took place aboard the ship before Silver Spirit’s Captain Marco Sangiacomo and Silversea Chief Operating Officer, Kenneth Watson performed a Hoi Gong ceremony, dotting the lion’s eyes, forehead and tongue with red ink. HKTB Deputy Executive Director, Daisy Lam and Hong Kong Assistant Commissioner for Tourism, Clement Lau then tied a red ribbon on the top of the lion’s head to bring good luck and prosperity to Silver Spirit.
Hong Kong marks the half way point of this inaugural voyage. Guests will spend two days exploring the sights and cultural attractions of Hong Kong, before departing at 18.00 tomorrow for Haiphong, Vietnam.
