The Singapore Marriott Hotel has been named as the Official Hotel of the Red Bull Speed Street Singapore event, in a deal which will see former Red Bull Racing driver, David Coulthard racing one of the team’s F1 cars on Singapore’s main shopping street, Orchard Road. The event will take place on 24 April.
“We are excited to be a part of the Red Bull Speed Street event and help bring F1 to the
most famous street in Singapore – Orchard Road,” said Anthony Page, General Manager
of the Singapore Marriott Hotel.
Coulthard, a former F1 race winner and current BBC pundit, added; “I am thrilled that the entire show run crew will be staying at the Marriott… I am looking forward to driving
down this world famous street and hopefully we get a good turnout just like in Malaysia.”
The Red Bull Speed Street Singapore event follows the similarly-named show run in Kuala Lumpur on 3 April, which saw Coulthard entertain crowds along Jalan Bukit Bintang, the Malaysian capital’s main shopping street.
The Red Bull Speed Street Singapore show run will see the Scot racing down an 800m stretch of Orchard Road starting from the ION Orchard/Marriott Singapore in a show case which will last about an hour. The public can expect manoeuvres such as short sprints, burnouts, engine breaks and donuts. The event will feature three runs by the F1 car as well as two shows featuring the Audi R8 LMS driven by Malaysia’s former F1 driver, Alex Yoong.
Red Bull is expecting upwards of 50,000 spectators to turn out for the Singapore event.
