Construction on a new US$100 million five-star hotel is underway on Phnom Penh’s riverside, with construction set for completion in 2011, the Phnom Penh Post has reported. The 799-room Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel will also feature two conference venues with a capacity of 1,500 delegates and parking spaces for 1,000 cars.
Sokimex President Sok Kong told the newspaper that the property would create up to 1,200 jobs for Cambodians, and that it would be eco-friendly, with a liquid waste and sewage treatment system.
