South African Tourism has concluded its four-city roadshow on a high note in India.
With events in Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai, the tourism board registered over 1,200 Indian travel agents visiting the roadshow. The annual roadshow is an interactive platform of enhancing the destination knowledge of the frontline staff of travel agencies, helping them in planning itineraries and managing customer queries. In addition, this is also a perfect time for South African partners to learn about the latest trends in India and understand consumer interests.
Speaking on the 11th roadshow, Evelyn Mahlaba, regional director for Australasia at South African Tourism said, “Over the last decade, the annual roadshows have proven to be a great learning tool for us to grow in the Indian market by improving our travel trade outreach and engagement in the country. Each year, our roadshow has provided a great platform for travel operators from India to further expand their understanding of South Africa as a leisure holiday and MICE destination. South African Tourism alongside our partners from South Africa, have used this platform to further develop and strengthen business opportunities with the Indian travel agents”.
Citing similar opinion, Hanneli Slabber, country manager for South African Tourism in India said, “We organize one of the biggest trade roadshows in the travel and tourism industry in India. Seeing the increasing outbound travel demand from the Indian market and the year-on-year success of our roadshows, we have put in our best efforts to get a diverse mix of South African suppliers to this year’s roadshow and are hopeful to forge many more successful partnerships with the Indian travel trade.”
Close to 76,116 Indian tourists visited South Africa between January to August 2013, registering a 8.4% increase vis-à-vis the same period last year.
