More than 1,000 firefighters, police officers and soldiers are battling a huge forest fire in southern China’s Yunnan province, state media has reported. The fire, which broke out on Tuesday morning approximately 180km northeast of the popular tourist town of Dali, has so far engulfed more than 26 hectares of forest. No casualties have been reported, however strong winds are fanning the fire and hampering efforts to extinguish the blaze.
