China’s Spring Airlines has celebrated the delivery of its 50th Airbus A320 aircraft.

The Shanghai-based low-cost carrier welcomed the new single-aisle jet at the Airbus factory in Tianjin this week, where staff joined hands to form the number 50 outside the hangar.

Spring, which became China’s first LCC when it launched in 2005, operates an all-A320 fleet. The airline equips its aircraft with 180 seats in an all-economy class layout.

“We are pleased to expand our all Airbus A320 fleet to 50 as we are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary in July this year,” said Wang Zhenghua, chairman of Spring Airlines.

“The low-cost mode that we initiated in China 10 years ago has proved to be successful and it is becoming more and more popular today. The Airbus A320 plays a key role in the successful development of low cost operations in China.”

Spring’s 50th aircraft was also the 210th A320 assembled at the Tianjin factory – Airbus’ first facility in China.
