Singapore Airlines lead the packby receiving the Airline of the Year award and further boosted its ranks bytaking the world’s Best Business Class title for 2007.
Commenting on the 2007 Airline ofthe Year Award, Singapore AirlinesCEO, Mr Chew Choon Seng, said “We’re very grateful to our many customerswho have supported us in this poll. Like other awards we receive, this willinspire our people to keep up the good service and do even better in thefuture.”
Following closely behind is ThaiAirways, up from fourth place in 2006 and has taken the second position.
Skytrax reported that “thejostle for Airline of the Year title was fairly constant throughout the surveyperiod, and in particular the top 5 positions fluctuated on quite a regularbasis – before Singapore Airlinesclinched 1st place in the final count.”
Cathay Pacific, aformer winner of the title faced strong competition and ranked in 3rdplace. Qatar Airways secured the 4th position and a new entry by Qantasmaking it to the Top 5 group, by taking 5th position.
Topping the 2007 low-cost airline Awards, is Australia’s Jetstar Airways that wins the title of Best Low-Cost airlineworldwide. “For an airline that isjust 3 years old, this is a fantastic achievement” said Plaisted.
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer, AlanJoyce said “To be ranked above the likes of easyJet, considered one of thepioneers of low cost carrier’s globally is an amazing achievement”
