Hungry for growth and with February arrivals from India up more than 20%, SriLankan Airlines has announced plans to relaunch its Colombo-Kochi service from 27 March with special opening offers and reopen routes to Kozhikode and Hyderabad by next year. SriLankan Airlines worldwide sales head Mohamed Fazeel said; “It is opportune time for the airline to resume services to Kochi post ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka and world economic slump. India is an extremely important market for us and this re-launch in Kochi is a stepping stone to further expanding services in India and around the world.” SriLankan suspended Kochi operations in 2009 during a slump in air travel. Before that, it had about 100 flights a week to India.
