14TH June 2010, London: The St. Regis Bora Bora is set for its much awaited re-opening on 14th June with new updates and under the direction of a new team led by newly appointed General Manager, Michael Schoonewagen. The revamped team includes new Directors of Food and Beverage, Spa and Rooms that promises to further enhance the resort’s legendary experience. The St. Regis Bora Bora has been closed undergoing repairs following some minor damages it suffered after the passage of Cyclone Oli through French Polynesia in February.
In an effort to maintain the St. Regis Bora Bora’s unrivalled dimension of luxury and to continuously surpass the expectations of their most discerning guests, the resort also underwent certain upgrades. All of the pools at the St. Regis Bora Bora were re-tiled. The pool at the resort’s lavish 13,000 square foot Royal Estate has been fitted with white glass paste tiles that reflect the color of the sky, and the pools in the Royal Over Water Villas, the Pool Beach Villas, the Private Ocean Front Villas, Royal Oceanfront Villas, as well as the Main Pool now have turquoise glass paste tiles that reflect the natural light.
Guests lounging by the main pool area can now also enjoy newly redesigned landscaping that includes a wooden deck facing the main beach area and new foliage, coral blocks, and Polynesian Art. All of the beaches on property were re-sanded and re-shaped to enhance their appearance, and the Royal Estate’s private beach also received an extension. The Private Lagoonarium and other public ponds received marine alterations and now have new coral growth and fish species.
New General Manager, Mr. Schoonewagen, brings ample experience in 5-star luxury hotel management, starting when his family owned a hotel in the South of France, and continuing into his hospitality management studies in Switzerland. He has worked in top establishments in Monte Carlo, St.-Tropez, Lyon, The Comores, Paris, Moscow, Madeira, the Algarve and Mauritius. He has also lived in South Africa, where he was born, as well as Madagascar, and the Netherlands. Prior to joining the St. Regis Bora Bora, he was General Manager at the Royal Mougins Golf, Resort and Spa in Mougins, France.
The St. Regis Bora Bora resort, opened in June 2006, marked the legendary brand’s first resort in French Polynesia and introduced an unrivalled dimension of luxury and hospitality to the South Pacific.
