The St. Regis Langkawi is inviting guests to experience the flora and fauna found on the ‘Jewel of Kedah’ by joining its naturalist, John Kumaran Selva, on nature walks.
These are conducted daily except on Wednesday and Saturday and are complimentary for all guests in groups of up to 12. The morning walk session is from 8am to 9.30am while the evening walk is from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Starting at the lobby, the tour explains the history behind The St. Regis, the significance of the Beringin tree, the background of a row of date trees by the poolside and assorted flowers and plants in the garden, and includes anecdotes about the “King of Fruits” – the durian.
Seva will touch on the plants’ cultural, heritage and medicinal aspects, as well as the importance of mangrove trees to the coastal areas and different bird species found on the island and their migration patterns, plus butterflies and monkeys native to the islands.
