Star Clippers has announced plans to launch a series of food-themed cruises for the coming summer onboard its tall ships.
The voyages will feature a selection of Europe’s top celebrity chefs, along with cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and lectures which will teach guests a range of skills.
Each theme will be reflective of the region the ship is covering, for example, vessels sailing the French waters may focus on wine and chocolate whereas soused herrings will be looked at on a Dutch cruise. The 227-passenger flagship Royal Clipper and the 170-passenger sister ships, Star Clipper and Star Flyer will be used on these voyages.
Highlights include:
• Royal Clipper: German celebrity chef Christian Loisl will present cookery demonstrations in conjunction with the Champagne house Cattier, sailing round-trip from Rome via Ponza, Sorrento, Taormina and Stromboli. (8 June)
• Star Flyer: Study the art of knife-sharpening and learn how to make sushi under the guidance of Dresden chef Sebastian Bartsch, during a seven-night Stockholm to Travemünde voyage. (27 July)
• Star Clipper: Talk all things Mediterranean with journalist Dagmar von Cramm from Cicero magazine and award-winning sommelier Arno Steguweit, on a nine-night Athens to Rome voyage. (5 October)
Food-themed cruises cost from GBP855 per person on the four night 5 May Amsterdam to Hamburg voyage on Star Flyer, including full board, all cookery talks and demonstrations and port taxes.Flights are not included.
