Starwood announces five new China projects

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has the addition of five new hotels to its China portfolio. The new signings include the first St Regis resorts in Sanya and Chengdu, Sichuan; the first Sheratons in Jiangyin and Dalian; and a second Sheraton resort in Huizhou, Guangdong.
Starwood remains on track with plans to double its footprint in China by 2011 with over 60 hotels in the pipeline. In 2009, the company will open more than 10 properties throughout China, adding to the eight launches in 2008.
The five new properties are: the St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort, a 402 room and villas new-build resort, part on an integrated beach resort (due to open in 2001). The St. Regis Chengdu, a 268 room and suite hotel located in the Sichuan capital’s Central Business District (2014). The Sheraton Jiangyin Hotel, in the Central Business District of Jiangyin, approximately 2 hours drive from Shanghai. The hotel will feature 296 rooms and suites, and over 4,300m
