Starwood has unveiled plans to bring its luxury St Regis brand to Jakarta.
An agreement with Indonesia’s Rajawali Group will see the all-suite St Regis Jakarta open in 2016, as part of a new mixed-use development in the Mega Kuningan area of the city.
The 141,000m² project, which is already under construction, will include the 124-room hotel and a 47-storey office tower, plus F&B and retail components.
“As a capital city of one of the world’s most populous countries, urbanisation and infrastructure development will continue to play a vital role in furthering growth in Indonesia,” said Darjoto Setyawan, managing director of communications for Rajawali.
“Through this iconic landmark and a global legacy of Starwood and St Regis, we hope to provide international visitors as well as local connoisseurs with uncompromising services, and ultimately further enhance Jakarta’s reputation as Asia’s strategic business and financial hub.”
The hotel forms part of a 20-year strategic partnership between Starwood and Rajawali, which has already included the development of the St Regis Bali.
“Our extremely successful partnership with Rajawali made the St Regis Bali Resort one of the world’s best resorts, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to replicate the same success in the capital city of Jakarta,” said Stephen Ho, Starwood’s president for Asia Pacific. “We look forward to bringing the timeless elegance, rich heritage and refined sophistication of the St. Regis brand to the heart of Jakarta.”
