Starwood charts out Saudi Arabia plan

Starwood has announced aggressive plans for Saudi Arabia. The hotel chain has also confirmed plans to open six new hotels across the country in the next few years, adding over 1,500 rooms to the market.
Yazan Al Shouly, associate director of acquisitions and development, announced the group’s current hotel projects in the pipeline. “Starwood will open three this year including Sheraton Medina and two Four Points by Sheraton properties, in Medina and Riyadh. Starwood will open its first Aloft in Saudi Arabia in 2014 – the Aloft Riyadh. “The group continues to look for opportunities to grow its portfolio in the country.”
From plans of airport development to massive construction schemes, there is a significant investment being made by the Kingdom’s government towards developing business and tourism prospects in the country. According to STR Global, there are 97 hotels in the pipeline, representing 29,668 additional rooms.
