Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of its first Aloft hotel in South Korea.
Aloft Seoul Gangnam features 188 rooms and suites, including walk-in showers and the brand’s trademark high-tech amenities, such as docking stations that link tablets, laptops or MP3 players to the rooms’ 42-inch LCD TVs, and complimentary internet access.
“Since the Aloft brand’s global debut in 2005 we’ve seen incredible growth momentum in some of the most exciting destinations around the world,” said Brian McGuinness, global brand leader of Starwood’s specialty brands. “With its emphasis on design and tech-savvy features all at an affordable price point, Aloft Gangnam is right at home amidst the buzz and energy of Seoul’s liveliest district.”
The new hotel will include a range of facilities, including a restaurant, a 24-hour “grab-and-go” beverage area, bar and fitness centre. There is also 64m² of high-tech meeting space, including three meeting rooms that can seat up to 48 people.
Located on Yeongdong-daero, Aloft Seoul Gangnam is 11km from Seoul’s city centre but close to the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center and Gangnam’s main retail and nightlife areas.
There are now 15 Aloft hotels operating in the Asia Pacific region, with another 17 in the pipeline. And with the debut of the Aloft brand in Seoul, Starwood now operates four of its brands in South Korea: Westin, Sheraton, W Hotels and Aloft.
