Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to manage two more hotels in Malaysia.
Four Points by Sheraton Puchong and Le Méridien Putrajaya are scheduled to open in autumn 2014 and 2015 respectively, and will add 599 rooms to the company’s existing Malaysian inventory.
Both Putrajaya and Puchong are located in the Selangor region of Malaysia, close to Kuala Lumpur.
“Malaysia’s strong economic growth and healthy tourism arrivals present us with a very exciting growth opportunity,” said Matthew Fry, Starwood’s senior vice president of acquisition & development for Asia Pacific. “Starwood’s development in the fast growing districts of Puchong and Putrajaya will enable us to cater to Malaysia’s growing middle class and the increased number of business and leisure travellers in the market.”
Four Points by Sheraton Puchong is located in the emerging town of Puchong, midway between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and will feature 249 rooms, 1,110m² of meeting space, a swimming pool, two F&B outlets and a fitness centre.
Le Méridien Putrajaya meanwhile, will have 350 rooms, two restaurants, a fitness centre, spa, swimming pool and more than 1,630m² of event space.
Starwood currently operates 12 hotels in Malaysia, including locations in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Kuching.
