Starwood is accelerating the growth of its eco-friendly Element brand with plans to open its first property in Asia.
The Element Suzhou Science & Technology Town is expected to open in October 2015, marking the brand’s debut in Asia Pacific. Located within Suzhou Science and Technology Town, a new ‘eco-city’ in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, the new hotel will offer 190 rooms and more than 920m² of meeting space.
The new addition will also make China the only market outside of North America where Starwood will operate all nine of its lifestyle brands.
Element is designed as an environmentally-led hotel brand, with all properties aiming to achieve the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Facilities are also tailored to healthy living, with 24-hour fitness centres, swimming pools and free bicycle hire. All Element hotels will be new-build properties.
The Suzhou hotel is one of 15 new Element hotels scheduled to open by the end of 2017. These include addition properties in North America, including locations in Boston, New Jersey, Vancouver and Orlando, and the brand’s first European property in Frankfurt.
