Starwood to launch Aloft brand in Korea
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to debut its Aloft brand in South Korea.
The company has signed a management contract that will see the Aloft Suwon – the contemporary brand’s first development in the South Korea – open in 2014. The launch marks the latest stage in a major Asian expansion for Aloft that has so far seen the launch of properties several properties in Thailand, China and India.
“While Starwood has maintained a long-standing presence in South Korea since the opening of the Westin Chosun Busan, this signing marks an important milestone in our overall growth strategy to expand the Aloft brand. Aloft Suwon will add to 10 existing Aloft hotels in exciting cities throughout the Asia Pacific region,” said Stephen Ho, Starwood’s President for Asia Pacific.
Located in the centre of Suwon, the provincial capital of Gyeonggi-do, Aloft Suwon will form part of a mixed-use development that also features retail and residential space. The hotel will feature 120 guest rooms including six suites, along with 404m² of function space, two F&B outlets, a gym and an 854m² spa.
