Starwood Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to launch a new luxury hotel in China, designed in the style of a European castle.
The eye-catching Castle Hotel in Dalian, Liaoning province, will join Starwood’s Luxury Collection, adding 292 rooms, 67 apartments and a range of facilities to the company’s Chinese portfolio.
Overlooking Dalian’s Xinghai Bay, the property was originally built in 2002 to replicate a traditional Bavarian castle. When it reopens this summer, the hotel will continue this theme, offering a German beer house as one of its F&B outlets.
Other facilities at The Castle Hotel will include three restaurants, including a Chinese seafood outlet, two lounges, a large indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.
The hotel is also expected to be a major draw for the MICE market, with 2,600m² of function space, including a 1,400m² ballroom and eight meeting rooms. There is also a 4,000m² open air rooftop garden designed to host weddings and other events.
The Castle Hotel will become the Luxury Collection’s fifth hotel in China, following he Astor Hotel in Tianjin, Twelve at Hengshan and The Hongta Hotel in Shanghai, and The Royal Begonia Resort in Sanya.
Earlier this year, Thai hotel group Dusit unveiled plans for a castle-themed hotel, also located in Liaoning province. The brand new Dusit Thani Castle Fushun will form part of a theme park and is due to open in 2017.
