The stick-to-slot Air Transport Circular which insures airlines keep to their allotted flight times will be extended to four more airports after it was imposed at Delhi and Mumbai last month. The circular will be imposed at Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad airports from 1 September. The new rules require airlines to close check-in desks 40 minutes before departure, obtain start up clearance at least 15 minutes before take-off and push-back must be complete within five minutes of approval. The scheme has significantly reduced delays at Delhi and Mumbai. According to the Times of India, 80% of flights takeoff on time from Mumbai compared to 45% before the new rules came in.
