Strong 2008 boosts Best Western

Best Western delivered a record-setting US$1.16 billion in reservations revenue to its hotels in fiscal year 2008, the company has reported. The self-proclaimed world’s largest hotel chain ended 2008 with 4,018 hotels in 80 countries, including 2,251 in the North America and 1,767 in the rest of the world.
Glenn de Souza - Vice President International Operations Asia, said that Best Western would continue its strategy of growth in Asia in 2009.
“We opened 16 hotels in Asia in 2008, including six hotels across in Japan, Vietnam and Thailand, six hotels in China, and four hotels in India. Fourteen more hotels are slated to open in Asia in 2009, including in Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Philippines, Dubai and Oman. And as of year-end 2008, Best Western offered approximate 13,260 rooms around the region which we expect to raise to 25,000 rooms within 2010,” de Souza said.
