Hapag-Lloyd’s newest vessel, the Europa 2, has taken a step towards completion with the production and installation of its suites.
The ship, which is currently being constructed at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, is having between 25-30 cabins fitted per week – all completed off-site, before being transported to the ship.
The penthouse suites are all fitted onboard rather than remotely due to their size making transportation extremely difficult.
The Europa 2 is due to take its maiden voyage in May 2013 and is designed around more modern sensibilities in comparison to past Europas. The suites all have at least seven square metres worth of space and a veranda with ocean view. The owner’s suite consists of 99 square metres while family suites are essentially two separate suites with a connecting door.
