Chicago and Illinois Tourist Office has launched a competition to find a UK ambassador for Route 66 after a survey revealed 86% of Brits sought more unique, experience-driven holidays. Road-tripping across Route 66 was listed in the top three experience holidays, after a trek across the Great Wall of China and climbing to the Everest Base Camp. Now the tourist office is looking to recruit a UK ambassador, who will spend a week travelling along the ‘Mother Road’ and present their findings and recommendations to Britain via a photo and video blog on www.gochicago.com. To enter, log onto the website to nominate yourself between today and 23 May, then the public will have three weeks to vote for the top five candidates. Those shortlisted will submit a video explaining why they should be chosen by the panel of judges. All voters will be entered into a competition to win a holiday to Chicago.
