Asian hotel group Swiss-Belhotel International has opened its first convention centre.
Located in the Indonesian city of Pekanbaru, on the island of Sumatra, the ska Co Ex facility offers a range of spaces for meetings and events. These include four ballrooms, which can accommodate up to 3,000 delegates, and five function rooms catering for a further 200 guests.
“Today is another milestone in the development of Swiss-Belhotel International as ska Co Ex in Pekanbaru Riau opens under our management,” Swiss-Belhotel’s chairman & president, Gavin M. Faull said at the facility’s opening ceremony.
“ska Co Ex promises to be a leading convention centre and it will become the pride of the city. Our management will ensure that there are consistent international standards of all operations and services as we will manage the facility with the professionalism and passion which is the hallmark of Swiss-Belhotel International.”
Located in the central business district of Pekanbaru, ska Co Ex will cater for a range of event types, with VIP rooms, a bridal room and business centre. It also features a Chinese restaurant and is located in the same complex as the ska Mall retail complex and Swiss-Belinn ska Pekanbaru – a 108-room midscale hotel also operated by Swiss-Belhotel.
While ska Co Ex becomes Swiss-Belhotel’s first ever dedicated conference centre, it continues the company’s rapid expansion in Indonesia. There are now 40 Swiss-Belhotel properties operating in the country, accounting for the majority of its global portfolio.
