Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has agreed to purchase three new Boeing aircraft as it continues to expand and renew its long-haul fleet.
The airline already has outstanding orders for six B777-300ERs, following an order placed in 2013. And it has now signed a deal for a further three aircraft, worth US$990 million at current list prices.
“The 777-300ER has consistently proved its value as a reliable, efficient and comfortable flagship for airlines across the world, making it the perfect fit for SWISS’ future long-haul plans,” said Todd Nelp, Boeing’s vice president of European sales.
“We are honoured by today’s commitment for additional 777s from SWISS and look forward to finalising the order.”
SWISS currently operates a fleet of more than 90 single- and twin-aisle aircraft, but the new B777s will become its first Boeing jets. Currently the airline operates its long-haul routes using Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft.
Deliveries of the new B777s will commence in 2016.
