Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio in China with the signing of a new hotel in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province.
The new Swissôtel Changsha, which is scheduled to open in 2014, will form part of a mixed-use development also featuring office space.
“Changsha is one of the most important economic centres in the country, and as the ‘entertainment capital of China’ it is a year-round attraction for visitors,” said Meinhard Huck, Swissôtel’s President. “Swissôtel Changsha is another important step in our expansion in China, where we already manage several five-star hotels, and it is significant for the growth of our brand recognition in Asia.”
Swissôtel Changsha will offer 400 rooms and suites, along with five restaurants and bars, a spa and more than 2000m² of meeting and banqueting space.
The hotel is located in the Yuelu district of Changsha, approximately 30km from the city’s international airport and 15km from the city centre. The district is an affluent residential area of Changsha and home to local government offices.
Swissôtel currently operates four hotels in China – in Beijing, Foshan, Kunshan and Shanghai – and also has a property under development in Chengdu.
