Sydney Aquarium unveils new ray display
Sydney Aquarium today unveiled a brand new exhibit to the public – the Tropical Bay of Rays.
The new area will feature a variety of ray species, including the leopard whipray, blue-spotted maskray, blue-spotted fantail ray, leopard shark and white-spotted guitarfish, contained in a central tank surrounded by tropical palms.
This marks the first time this collection of animals – many of which are endangered or threatened – has been displayed together anywhere the world.
The Tropical Bay of Rays is one of 14 new exhibits set to open as part of Sydney Aquarium’s US$10 million refurbishment programme.
