For the first time ever the program will feature two sensational international bands - double-Grammy award winners Aterciopelados from Colombia and exclusive, special guest performances by Venezuela’s finest salsa orchestra, Bailatino.
Dance the night away to a vibrant hot-pot of Latin rhythms and funky beats from Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Spain, Uruguay, Mexico, Ecuador with performances by ARIA-nominated Afro-Colombian rock band Watussi, renowned I Like It Like That Orchestra, Mucho Mumbo, Gonzalo Porta and the Sydney Salsa All Stars, Mi Tierra and the high-energy Son Veneno.
Don’t miss free performances by Celebrity Dancers of Latin America! Luda Kroitor, Csaba Szirami, Fabio Robles and Ana Andre (of So You Think You Can Dance? And Dancing With The Stars fame) who will strut their best dance moves especially for Fiesta. Then don your Cuban heels and head to Palm Grove for free dance classes with the experts. For a strong dose of glamour Latin American style, Australia’s Brazilian Fantasy Show will dazzle audiences with its spectacular take on Carnivale.
To ensure Fiesta’s weekend of entertainment is peppered with the spiciest of flavours, Tumbalong Park will also host a delicious range of Latin American and Spanish food stalls including paella, empanadas and chorizos, while a variety of Hispanic-inspired arts and crafts will be offered along the Urban Stream.
FIESTA NIGHTS at the Harbourside Amphitheatre will add fire to Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings with some of the hottest Latin music, DJs and dance performed live on the Aquashell stage from 6.30pm to 10pm. The outdoor dance floor will be thumping to the best contemporary Latin beats mixed by DJ Dwight ‘Chocolate’ Escobar in-between sets.
A kaleidoscope of colourful fireworks will light up the sky over Cockle Bay at 7.30pm Sunday 4 October.
