A gunman at the centre of a siege at a southeast Sydney hotel has given himself up and freed two hostages after keeping police at bay for four hours, reports the Australian.
Just before 10am on Sunday (AEST) three men, including the gunman, walked out of the Lakes Hotel at Rosebery after a standoff which began at 5.30am that morning.
The siege had developed after a police officer had been shot in the shoulder as police stormed the hotel responding to a report an armed robbery was taking place.
The officer was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital, where a police spokesman said he appeared to be in a stable condition.
