A new exhibition dedicated to the tyrannosaurus rex is coming to Sydney.
Running from 23 November 2013 to 27 July 2014 at city’s Australian Museum, the new dinosaur exhibition will feature models, animated dinosaurs, prehistoric fossils and specimens never before displayed outside China.
According to New South Wales’ Minister for Tourism, Major Events & the Arts, George Souris, the event is expected to generate AU$20 million (US$18.8m) in direct visitor expenditure.
“The Australian Museum is the first institution in the world to present this particular T-rex exhibition, which is expected to attract significant interest from around Australia and internationally,” Souris said.
“The exhibition presents some of the most exciting developments in dinosaur palaeontology in recent years, including a world-first link between birds and dinosaurs.”
The exhibition is being held in collaboration with the Beijing Museum of Natural History.
