September was a record month for Taiwan’s tourism industry which recorded 470,000 tourist arrivals, the highest monthly figure ever achieve and a 9.92% improvement on September 2010. According to Tourism Bureau, Japan, Singapore and mainland China were the top three sources of inbound tourists, with the number of tourists from the three countries all hitting a new high in the month. So far in the first nine months, the number of inbound tourist arrivals accumulated to 4.3 million, putting annual growth at 6.65%.
According to CENS, the Tourism Bureau has decided to promote thematic travel programmes through the next three months as it tries to lure more foreign visitors. The Bureau will target outbound travellers from Japan, Southeast Asia and China.
